Recent major updates

This page was set up on October 24th., 2001. I will add each major update recently done to this site. But I will delete entries when they become obsolete.

  1. November 20, 2018. Major change: after having been away for more then three years, the site has been changed to a new provider, and that means for older visitors, that my email address was also changed. Please note that.

  2. August 8, 2012. The Nomination Award badge was discontinued and removed from the site.

  3. December 7, 2010. ICRA Child Friendly labelling has been discontinued by ICRA and the label can no longer be tested. Therefore I have removed the badge from my site. As a result of this, I have also removed the ICRA label requirement from my criteria of my Award program. When sites that apply for my LTS award have an ICRA label only to prove that they have a child friendly site and no other labels such as SafeSurf, they will be disqualified as from this date when applying. I must be able to test the label.

  4. Decenber 6, 2010. All links to the obsolete "World Top Awards" and " Website Awards" programs have been removed.

  5. September 10, 2010. The dead link to the C.O.P.P.A. rule on my apply page has been corrected to the new correct page.

  6. September 2, 2010. All links within my site have been thoroughly checked and corrected or deleted where necessary when they proved to be dead or changed.

  7. February 16, 2010. Several items in my Disqualifying Rules (20, 24, 29) and my scoring system have been corrected, and are now in line with current software (Netscape is no longer available and obsolete)

  8. January 24, 2010. All pages have been updated to show that my copyright is valid from 1998 up to 2010 included.

  9. October 15, 2009. I have opened my Award Program again for Stand-Alone Award Programs. But there are certain restrictions. I would suggest to read my Disqualifying rules no. 6. The AP must be well designed and show the inventiviness and input of the designer. If possible, content must include help and assistance to others.

  10. March 21, 2009. I have re-labelled my site with ICRA, which I discontinued in 2006, believing wrongly that ICRA went totally commercial. When I recently found out it hadn't, I decided to re-label my site again with this valuable label.

  11. March 9, 2009. A new item has been added to my Statistics page (Award Program): a WSR (Winners Selection Record).

  12. February 28, 2009. I added iNetDog to my homepage. I now receive a weekly report by e-mail telling me which links on my site are broken. And it was free...

  13. Novemberr 28, 2008. I have set the minimum age for applicants for my award to 18, as I want to follow the rules laid down by the COPPA rules and the European (EU) directive 95/46. In the latter the age of children is set to below the age of 18 .

  14. October 28, 2008. I was honored this day with the top AWARD rating 6.0 for my award Program LTS Grail Award. The relevant pages were changed to show the new badge. Thank you Lupércio Mundim and staff!

  15. October 15, 2008. I was honored this day with the top AwardSites! rating 5.0+ for my award Program LTS Grail Award. The relevant pages were changed to show the new badge. On top of that, I was admitted to the "Exemplary Hall" as Honoree and for that I also had to place the relevant badge on several pages.

  16. August 18, 2008. A License image was added at the bottom of my Ethics Page, linked to as instructed by Rhonda Serong, with the necessary text, linked to the present Licencee: Award Community News.

  17. July 18, 2008. A very serious travel warning has been made on the Malaysia page. Eastern Sabah is now considered very dangerous for tourists!

  18. July 14, 2008. All pages oif this site were updated, copyright dates also.

  19. May 18, 2008. I have decided not to accept Stand Alone Award Programs for my award any more, as their contents are of necessity the same and not unique to visitors in general on Internet. Nor will the non applicant visitor find anything of interest, which is a "must" for my award.

  20. July 29, 2007. I won another award (Timelines Innovative Award) and therefore had to add another page to the AS! 4.5 won awards. That also involved altering the other AS! 4.5 pages.

  21. July 8, 2007. The space provided for an email address in the application form of the Award Program has been extended to accommodate larger addresses.

  22. July 7, 2007. The disqualification rules regarding horizontal scrolls have been adapted to incorporate the browsers Opera and Mozilla FireFox as well.

  23. July 1, 2007. Still trying to remove problems caused by the URL change. But we are getting there. All external links were checked and dead links were corrected, mostly award programs that went offline.

  24. May 22, 2007. Due to a stupid mistake of my provider, my site went offline for over a month. I had to get a new URL and that involved changing each page of the site to the new username, etc. It was a major job, but today I went back online! I also lost the flash intro's, but that may be a good thing!

  25. February 26, 2007. A new disqualifyer rule was added: "Chat forums of any kind are not accepted for my award".

  26. November 15, 2006. The Disqualification Rules, item 5 has been adapted. Closed sections in a site are still a DQ item unless I have been given entry into it for evaluation purposes, I will evaluate the section separately against the criteria laid down in this Award Program. There will be a deduction of points. If I do not get entry (in the form of a Password and Users name), the site will be disqualified. If I decide there is no reason for a closed section, after evaluating it, the site will still be disqualified.

  27. October 9, 2006. A new APIRS rating 5.0 badge was added on several pages. Some spelling errors and typographical errors were corrected. Some dead links were corrected.

  29. September 11, 2006. The wording of the Application Procedure page in my Award Program has been slightly altered, to make it better understandable. I have emphasized some parts to make sure it is understood what happens when the secret word is not produced and that the won award will be inscribed with the name of the succesful site.

  30. September 9, 2006. My Award Program was rated by the Diskus Award Index at level 5.

  31. August 18, 2006. All pages of the site have now been labelled for ICCS (Child Save International Corporation) /Watchdog certification. The site has been checked and found to be correct. I received the message from ICCS: Your web site is now ICCS™ Certificated and licensed.

  32. August 15, 2006. I have added the RSS scroller of the Award Comunity News on my awarding.html page

  33. July 28, 2006. New text has been added to my Tahiti page. A friend of mine described the Tahitians and gave me permission to use her text. Thank you Melva!

  34. July 16, 2006. A new destination was added to my Travel pages: Vienna. All links on the travel pages were checked and corrected where needed, as Lonely Planet changed their site with the info on cities and countries.

  35. July 4, 2006. A new awards received page (unrated) has been added and all other pages have been corrected to show that extra page. The AP was rated by Olymp Award Index and by Diskus Award Index and the badges were added to several relevant pages.

  36. May 15, 2006. The AP criteria rule that all pages must be labelled for childfriendliness has been slightly adapted, to be more understandable. Also, the LTS Grail Award Program has been closed down for holidays until July 15th, 2006.

  37. May 10, 2006. The LTS Grail Award image has again been changed in size, as there was not enough room available for sites with longer titles.

  38. March 28, 2006. All awards won pages have been updated with new buttons.

  39. Top Button

  40. March 1, 2006. I have added another page to the awards section: a page with Friendship Awards I received. The page can be reached from my Memberships page. Membership badges and rating badges are now separated from Friendship Awards.

  41. February 15, 2006. I have added two statistic tables to my AP's Status/Statistics page, with thanks to AwardStats ( ).

  42. January 30, 2006. A new disqualifying rule was added: the site evaluated must be correctly labelled for child friendliness, by ICRA and/or Safesurf. When using ICRA the pages must come up with a green light when tested in Normal Mode (on the ICRA site).

  43. January 21, 2006. Two awards won pages were added: one for the AS! 4.0 awards and one for the AS! 4.5 awards. I was getting a little crowded!

  44. January 20, 2006. I have added a disqualification rule: if the "secret word" is not given in the application form, the site will be disqualified and I will not acknowledge receiving the application. Also: not filling in all fields in the application form results also in DQ, but I will let the applicant know and give him/her a chance to apply again.

  45. January 9, 2006. Twirling or floating items as a background, like snowflakes, soapbubbles, stars etc. are now a reason for disqualification. Also centered text without proper allignment and filling out is a reason for disqualification (poems excepted).

  46. December 30, 2005. I have removed the HR (Horizontal Rules) from all pages in the site. They clashed with my background and were really superfluous

  47. December 25, 2005. The EU directive 95/46 has been added to the privacy statement as well as the application procedure. This site will adhere to that directive as well as other international rules on the privacy of others.

  49. December 18, 2005. All pages have been updated to incorporate the year 2006 in the copyright line at the bottom of the pages.

  50. December 12, 2005. The labels.rdf file from ICRA has been adapted so that all pages of this site come up with a green light when tested with the label tester in strict and normal mode. I won two more important awards!

  51. December 7, 2005. Today I was awarded the Hall of Quality by AwardSites! My thanks to David Bancroft for this honor!

  52. November 28, 2005. Some dead external links were removed. Statistics on 2005 were added to the statistics page.

  53. November 15, 2005. I have introduced a nominee badge for applicants to my award. It can be found after applying for the award.

  54. November 12, 2005. A disclaimer was added to the copyright statement page.

  55. November 6, 2005. The Whales page has a new links menu, with which it is possible to show the linked sites targetted in a new window.

  56. October 31, 2005. All popups with winners of my award and explanations of the criteria were changed to show the same font as the rest of the site (arial, sans-serif).

  57. October 28, 2005. All menus from the award program have been revised, to include the evaluator and the copyright statement.

  58. Top Button

  59. October 5, 2005. So proud. AwardSites! has upgraded my Award Program to the rating 5.0, elite member. This road has now taken over 5 years, starting from rating 2.0!

  60. October 4, 2005. A new selftest form was introduced which gives results after having been filled in. Also, I re-introduced a "secret word" in the criteria, as many applicants proved never to read my criteria. This way I hope to force them to do so.....

  61. September 29, 2005. A new destination was added to my travel pages: Paris, France.

  62. September 27, 2005. I have discontinued the "unsuccesful" and "awarded" button on my status page. It was probably too discouraging. The number of applications was reduced drastically since I started those buttons.

  63. September 22, 2005. Again I added a new application form, non commercial. The applicant of my award will immediately receive confirmation by automated email and is directed back to my thanks page

  64. September 21, 2005. All 144 pages have been updated to show a differently colored scrolling track, resulting in a more distinct color difference.

  65. September 18, 2005. A new destination was added to the travel pages: Oslo. I spent part of my holidays there this year.

  66. Top Button

  67. September 13, 2005. I changed the welcoming page of the site, by removing the AwardSites! labels (Keysource and Article contributor) and adding some specific travel graphics, so that the visitor immediately recognises this site as having travel as it's main subject.

  68. September 9, 2005. All buttons of the menus have been redesigned, as people said they were difficult to read, due to the refections.

  69. August 29, 2005. I have gone back to a professional Bravenet application form. The other form did not work properly in Firefox, nor Netscape or Opera. It does now and as I bought the professional version, it no longer shows commercials. It also has the possibility of sending me a file (graphics, etc.) if the applicant so wishes.

  70. August 28, 2005. The criteria have had a total review. Many items were changed, f.i. any scoring points were removed. Also the scoring procedure has been completely updated. It is now no longer needed to switch back and fro from scoring page to criteria and vica versa. All info is on the scoring page.

  71. August 24, 2005. I have added a Self Test form, from which the applicant is taken to a results page and from there to the application form. The Self Test can only be accessed from the last page of my criteria.

  72. August 22, 2005. The status / statistics page has been changed to incorporate an "unsuccesful" button or an "awarded" button, thus making it easier for applicants to see whether they were succesful or not in an earlier stage. I have also changed the wording in my Application Procedure page to conform to the new policy of informing non winners. Also the menu button to go to the Procedure page has been changed a little (text).

  73. Top Button

  74. August 18, 2005. I have decided to change my policy not to let non-winners know the reasons for not winning my award. I will, from now onwards, in most cases, let the applicant know why I made that decision, but it must be simple to correct. I will not let non winners know why they were unsuccesful, if it is very obvious that they never read any of my criteria. They may always ask for the reasons, upon which request I will give them this info.

  75. August 14, 2005. I have devised a totally renewed application form, which does not depend on an outside firm, thus eliminating commercials and cookies. On top of that I have added a "Thank you" page, which will appear when the "Submit"button is clicked on the application form page, so that the applicant knows that his/her application is being processed and it is now possible to continue navigating around my site from that page.

  76. August 2, 2005. The Judges page has been re-established and can be assessed from the Awards Section Page (awarding.html) where the start is from the navigation throughout my award program. Also, the purpose page has been adapted to show the mission of my program as well as the history behind the award. The application form has been adapted and it is now possible to return to the homesite from the verification page. All links throughout the site have been checked and corrected where needed. The ICRA rating has been updated with the new meta tag to all pages, as has the "Safe Surf" meta tag.

  77. February 22, 2005. The LTS Grail Award graphic was slightly changed to measure 102 x 125 pixels. This allows a little more space for names of sites. The weight has increased from 6.0 kB to 6.5 kB, which I deem to be acceptable.

  78. December 23, 2004. The privacy statement was altered slightly, to warn that I have no control on cookies placed by counters or statistical programs that monitor my site.

  79. December 17, 2004. Many criteria were slightly changed to make them better understandable. The essence remained the same, but f.i. scoring was included on some so that no switching to my score page was necessary any longer. Hidden parts (member sections, f.i.) on a site are now a reason for immediate disqualification.

  80. Top Button

  81. December 16, 2004. A new note was added to the winners list base page to cover sites that no longer comply to my criteria when re-visited. The way sites that no longer exist when visited are handled are also covered in that note.

  82. March 31, 2004. Changed all AwardSites! rating logo's to the new rating 4.5, which I received today. Oh boy, am I happy!

  83. March. 9, 2004. All navigational menus of the general and award sections were updated to make them all the same, thus providing a more intuitive navigation possible. A sitemap was added to the site wich can be reached from all pages. The AS! rated won awards were provided with alphabetical lists of all awards. All links of the site were tested.

  84. Feb. 6, 2004. A new disqualifying rule was added to the criteria. The site evaluated must have a privacy policy when it collects private info. If it does not collect this info, such a statement is not needed. As a result, the scoring system was slightly adjusted and the General Criteria were also changed. Added a new page to the Award Winners section, so that the winners are now shown by the year in which they won my award.

  85. Jan. 7, 2004. Removed my guestbook and ICQ button form the index. That way I have better control on the privacy of my visiters.

  86. June 11, 2002. The multiple awards have been discontinued. There is only one award to be won: the LTS Grail Award. To this effect I had to change the graphic, linked pages, alter the winners lists (old winners and new winners), Statistics and Status page, criteria (slightly) and the application procedure.
